- Donna J. Schimke, 72, Neenah, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 18, 2013. She was born on December 27, 1940, in Omro, daughter of Roy and Irene (Champeau) Schmude. Donna was united in marriage to Richard Schimke on August 11, 1971. He preceded her in death on January 12, 1996. Donna was a very kindhearted and crafty woman who loved bird and deer watching. She will forever be remembered for her pig collection and her fondness for scratch-off lottery tickets.
Donna is survived by her children: Steve (Patty) Amundson, Neenah; Dan "Coz" (Kelly) Amundson, Menasha, Randy (Claudette) Amundson, Fremont; Becky (special friend Bill Bartaszewicz) Kiel, Neenah; Mark (Tammy) Amundson, Oshkosh, and Scot (special friend Debbie) Amundson, Menasha; a daughter-in-law: Sarah Amundson, Neenah; 24 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren; siblings: Toni (David) Temple, Maribel; Rex (Anna) Schmude, Omro; Wayne Schmude, Neenah; Jay Schmude, Oshkosh; and Dawn Hammes, Oshkosh; and many other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Donna was also preceded in death by a son: Gary Amundson; siblings: Doris (Dave) Dettloff, Charlotte (Paul) Knapp, and Infant Karen Schmude; a son-in-law: James Kiel; and the father of her children: LaVern Amundson.
In accordance with Donna's wishes, there will be no service. Interment will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2013, at Fort Howard Cemetery, Green Bay. A memorial has been established in Donna's name.
Donna's family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to Noonie from ThedaCare at Home Hospice, Dr. Mark Westfall and Nurse Craig from ThedaClark Medical Center, and also Dr. Richard Klamm for all of their care and compassion.
