- Marie C. Williams, age 88, of Ontario, Wisconsin, passed away on Thursda y, August 31, 2006, with her family by her side at the Gundersen Luther an Medical Center in La Crosse, Wisconsin. She was born on June 8, 191 8, to Anthony J. and Christine (Nondorf) Kroll on St. Mary's Ridge. Mar ie attended school at St. Mary's Ridge through the 10th grade. She graduat ed from Mercy High School in Milwaukee. Following her high school graduati on, she attended beautician school and nursing school in Milwaukee. Marie worked at Effingham Hospital in Illinois for a few years before movi ng back to Wisconsin. She then worked at hospitals in Sparta, Viroqua a nd Hillsboro for a short time, and while working in Viroqua, she was unit ed in marriage to Dan Williams at St. Mary's Ridge Catholic Church. She la ter went to work at the Tomah VA Medical Center as a LPN for over 30 year s. While working at the VA, she farmed with her husband and ran the Willia ms Feed Mill in Ontario. Marie enjoyed the outdoors and watching birds a nd animals. She is survived by her daughters, Judith (Donald) Schreier of Cashto n, WI and Patricia Kaufman of Caledonia, MN; a son, Dale (Lisa) Willia ms of Ontario, WI; eleven grandchildren and many great grandchildren; o ne brother, Erwin Kroll of St. Mary's Ridge; sisters in law, Grace No hr of Westby, WI, Thelma Williams of Hillsboro, WI and Mabel Williams of N orwalk, WI; a brother-in-law, Casper Linnehan of Sparta, WI; nieces, nephe ws, other relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Anthony and Christine; her husba nd, Dan; nine brothers and sisters, Alphonse Kroll, Gertrude Ottersen, Jos eph, Reuben, Everette and Ralph Kroll, Leona Hunk, PFC William Kroll who w as killed in action in WWII and Dorothy Linnehan; nine brothers-in-law a nd six sisters-in-law. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, September 6, 2006, 1 1:00 a.m. at St. Mary's Ridge Catholic Church. Father Eric Berns will offi ciate. Burial will follow in the Home Cemetery, near Ontario. Family and f riends are invited for visitation on Tuesday, September 5, 2006, from 4: 00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. vigil service at the Torkelson Fu neral Home in Ontario, WI. Family and friends are also invited for visitat ion on Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the churc h. The Torkelson Funeral Home of Ontario is assisting the family with arra ngements.
