- Mrs. Clarence Bongers (Marie D. Van Thiel) Little ChuteMarie, age 82, went into the loving arms of our Heavenly Father on Thursda y, January 4, 2001, at St. Paul Home after suffering a stroke on Novemb er 5, 2000. She was born September 9, 1918, in Little Chute, and gr ew up in Freedom. She was the devoted and loving wife of Clarence H. Bonge rs enjoying 611/2 years of marriage.Marie is survived by her husband, Clarence; a son and four daughters, Gra ce and Gene Vander Velden, Kimberly; Claire and Tom Verhagen, Town of Cent er; Tom and Mary Bongers, Darboy; Cindy Bongers, Little Chute; Patti and L loyd DeGroot, Kaukauna; 14 grandchildren, Sherry Vander Velden, Ft. Wort h, Texas; Barb and Tom Van Asten, Freedom; Tim and Amy Verhagen, Appleto n; Connie and Bill Wittmann, Little Chute; T. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leona rd and Nellie (VandenBoogart) Van Thiel; daughter, Mary Jane; son, Davi d; an infant son and infant great-grandson, Eli Thomas Van Asten; siste r, Alice Gonnering; brothers, John and Ed Van Thiel; as well as numerous b rothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.Marie was a dedicated homemaker, she enjoyed fishing at Pickerel Lake, pla ying cards and just being with her family. She will be especially remember ed for her devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary; her husband, Clarence, a nd her family. We will never forget her special smile, caring heart and t he warmth of her great hugs.Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, January 8, 2001, at St. John Cath olic Church, Little Chute with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiatin g. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may ca ll at the Verkuilen Funeral Home from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and from 9: 30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday. A prayer service will be held at 6 p.m. Sunda y.
