- George J. Bruckner age 86, of Chilton died on Saturday, January 11, 2014 at the Chilton Care Center. He was born October 30, 1927 in Chilton, son of the late George & Margaret (Basler) Bruckner; he attended St Mary's Catholic School and graduated from Chilton Sr. High School in 1945.
George married Joan C. Miller on August 26, 1950 at St. Mary Catholic Church. He began working for the Carnation Co. at the age of 16, retiring at the age of 62 after 46 years of service.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed spending time with his family, playing Skat, and the great outdoors: hunting, fishing and gardening. He used his extensive knowledge and his limitless tool supply to help all of his children build and/or remodel their homes.
George was the "Jack of all trades"; there wasn't anything he couldn't build or fix; anyone who knew George could count on him to help them with their projects. It brought him great joy to know that his skills and knowledge were passed down to his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife: Joan; his children: Paul (Sharon) Bruckner of Stockbridge, Peter (Laureen) Bruckner of Minocqua, John (Pat) Bruckner of Chilton, James (Kathy) Bruckner of Chilton; his grandchildren: Melissa (Scott) Krueger, Carie (Chris) Dolle, Loren Bruckner, Christopher Bruckner, Andy (Tia) Bruckner, Terri Bruckner, Leslie Bruckner, Toni (Adam) Schlieve, Nicholas (Roz) Bruckner, Matthew (Kristin) Bruckner, Mike Nadler and special friend, Brittany Brown; Beth Nadler and special friend, Ricci Ecker; and 19 great grandchildren. He is further survived by brothers and sisters in-law, nieces, nephews, and friends.
George was preceded in death by a son, Thomas J. Bruckner, his parents George & Margaret (Basler) Bruckner, his father and mother-in-law: Roland and Elsie (Everix) Miller; his brothers and sisters Lorraine (Alfred) Woelfel, Robert (Evelyn Bonk) Bruckner, Margaret (Chester) Bonk, Alice (Harvey) Schwartz, Alfred Bruckner, Arno (Yvonne Jensen) Bruckner, Donald Bruckner; sisters-in-law: Marilyn (Miller) Nolan, & InaClaire (Schucht) Miller.
Funeral service will be at 11:30 am on Saturday, January 18, 2014 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.). Friends may call at the church from 9:00 am until 11:15 am on Saturday, January 18, 2014.
