  Orville D. Jacobs, 94, died peacefully on Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah, at 9:45 AM, following a fall at his home that had paralyzed him. He was born in 1918 to Henry and Phoebe (Bellomy) Jacobs. Orv lived in Lee City, Kentucky and moved to Northern Wisconsin when he was 5 years old. He was married to Madge Evans on June 7, 1945. He was a skilled marksman and served in the United States Armed Services 172nd infantry in the Solomons, New Guinea and Luzon. He was a carpenter and millwright and worked for construction companies such as P.G. Miron Construction and Oscar J. Boldt Construction. Orv loved to fish with his friends. He enjoyed hunting and growing vegetables. There was always a dog or three around to play tricks on. He spent a significant amount of time reading the Bible and enjoyed watching Gaither music videos. Orv attended Appleton Alliance Church and will always be remembered for his quick wit. He aspired to pleasing God in this world, and to life with Him and loved ones in the next. Orville is survived by his wife, Madge, his daughters, Bonnie (Bill) Savka, Waupaca and Sheila (Bill) Ott, Hortonville. He has 5 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Sally (Willie) Hoier, his son, Bill, and his grandson, Rick Hoier and by 12 brothers and sisters. A private memorial service for the family will be held on Thursday at Valley Funeral Home with Pastor Dick Schaefer officiating. Military Honors will be performed by the Harvey Pierre VFW Post 2778 of Appleton. Published in Appleton Post-Crescent on December 5, 2012
