- Julius Peerenboom. The leading dry-goods and clothing merchant of Appleton, one of the most enterprising business men of Outagamie county, is conspicuous and only as such, but as one of the best known and most widely-respected citizens in this portion of the State.
He was born April 23, 1837, in the Village of Valburg, Holland, a son of Gerhart and Lydia (Johnson) Peerenboom, (error here), natives, the father of Prussia, the mother of Holland, where they were married in 1835. The had nine children, six of whom are now living, Julius being the eldest in order of birth. Grandfather Peerenboom (would be father of Gerardus alis Gratian, alia Gradus) was accidentally killed when Gerhart was very young and the latter then moved with relatives to Holland, where he learned the trade of carpenter, afterward carrying on contracting and building. In 1858 the family came to America, settling on a farm in Little Chute, Outagamie Co., Wiis', where the mother died in 1864, the father in 1874...
In 1864 Mr. Peerenboom was married, in Appleton, to Miss Wilhelmina Speel (alia Sarah), who was born in The Hague (Den Hague, a/k/a 's-Gravenhage, province of South Holland, Netherlands. Den Hague is the capital city of South Holland, Netherlands), and came to America with her parents in 1846 (not quite accurate), Father Vandenbrook (sic) accompanying them."...

Gesset vander Lienden, 42, a laborer living in Welse in the Province of Gelderland, who declares to be the brother-in-law of the bride; 3. Hendrik Sas, 40, a laborer living in Valburg, province of Gelderland, who declares to be the brother-in-law of the bride; and 4. Cornelis Jansen, 70, a broker living in Eimeren, province of Gelderland, uncle of the bride to enter into an agreement of marriage, on one side, Gradus Peerenboom, carpenters handmate, 23, living in Andelst, province of Gelderland, and on the other side, Aleida Janssen, without occupation, 24, living in Valburg, province of Gelderland. 1) the birth certificate of the groom, dated 27 September 1836, from which it appears he was born 23 July 1813 at Cranenburg in Prussia, son of Jellis Peerenboom, deceased, and Johanna Lisholt, deceased;
2) the birth certificate of the bride, dated 27th October 1836, saying that she was born 13 March 1812 in Valburg, province of Gelderland,the daughter of Hendrick Janssen, deceased, and Hendrina Hoogveld;
3) the public notices of marriage between the prospective marriage partners appearing at Valburg first on 30 October 1836 and the second time on 6 November 1836, 8 days after each other per the law;
4) the death certificate of the father of the groom issued in Cranenburg on the 27th of September 1836 that says he passed away in Cranenburg the 24th of April 1817;
5) the death certificate of the groom's mother issued in Cranenburg 27 September 1836 that says she passed away in Cranenburg the 19th of October 1830;
6) the death certificate of Johann Lisholt, grandfather of the groom (mother's side) issued in Cranenburg the 24th October 1836 saying he deceased in Cranenburg the 6th of August 1831;
7) the death certificate of Hendrina Scholten, grandmother of the groom (mother's side) issued in Cranenburg 24th October 1836 saying she deceased there 11 December 1817;
8) the death certificate of Hendrick Janssen, father of the bride, issued by the burgermeister of Valburg, saying that he died 28th October 1820; ...........
