  Betty A. Hietpas, age 84, of Kaukauna, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 25, 2015 with her family by her side. She was born to the late Jacob and Mary (Brooks) De Jong on November 4, 1930. She married the late Don Hietpas on August 19, 1953. Betty enjoyed spending her retirement time in Eagle River with her husband before he passed away. She loved to bake, cook, play cards, and sing in the church and villa choirs. Betty was a member of Knights of Columbus with her husband and Fox Valley Golf Club. She was an avid bingo player. Betty loved watching sports, especially the Brewers and Packers. She enjoyed spending time with all of her family. Betty is survived by her five children: Mary Kay (special friend Rick Weyenberg) and her children Eric (Aimee) Van Handel, Kimberly (Joe) Romenesko, Emily (Scott) Bons, and Joey Van Handel; Diane (Marty) Thomson and her children Leah Verhagen (special friend Andy LaMantia) and Amy Wick (special friend Timm Schaetz); Barb (Chuck) Ditter and their children Tim Ditter (special friend Jenni Kuderski) and Jenny (Ric) De La Paz; Mike Hietpas; Bernie (Kara) Hietpas and their children Christopher Hietpas, Alexandria Hietpas, and Benjamin Hietpas; six great grandchildren: Lexi Van Handel, Valerie Bons, Ingrid Carpen, Owen Wick, Brayden and Charlotte Hietpas; brothers-in-law Ken Romenesko, and Marvin (Ellie) Hietpas; sisters-in-law Betty De Jong, Gladys Jelenc, and Mary Frances (Dan) Bork; many friends, relatives and cousins will also miss her. Betty is preceded in death by both of her parents; her husband Don; Don's parents; sisters: Rose Romenesko and Ardene (Ed) Welhouse; brothers Corny De Jong and Frank "Fritz" (Joyce) De Jong; and brother-in-law Roland Geurts; and one nephew Bobby Romenesko. Funeral services for Betty will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, with Father Tom Pomeroy officiating. Time of visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Betty's name.
