- Mary J. Yingling, age 82, Lakewood, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the Langlade Memorial Hospital, Antigo, under the care of LeRoyer Hospice. She was born in Oshkosh on October 20, 1930 to Earl and Jane (Sawicki) Hesselman.
Mary attended St. Mary's Catholic High School, Menasha and graduated in 1948. After graduating from high school, she attended Mercy Nursing School and received her nursing degree in 1951.
Mary married Donald R. Yingling on September 26, 1953 in Neenah, WI; he preceded her in death on October 16, 1993. Donald and Mary built their cabin on Chain Lake in 1961 and permanently moved to Lakewood on Chain Lake in 1972. They started the first ambulance service in Lakewood and kept the squad (a station wagon) in their garage.
She enjoyed sewing, craft shows, feeding the birds, the outdoors, hunting squirrel and deer, fishing and spoiling her dogs. Mary loved her home on Chain Lake.
Mary's nursing career lead her to work at Theda Clark Hospital in Neenah, Thilmany Pulp & Paper, Kaukauna Community Hospital, Kaukauna Public Health, Langlade Memorial Hospital, Red Arrow Nursing Home(Townsend) and retired as the D.O.N. at NuRoc Community Healthcare Center in Laona. Through her nursing career, she influenced many people to join the medical field. She also did a stint as a waitress at Maiden Lake Supper Club.
Mary is survived by sons, Jeff (Gerri) Yingling of Kaukauna, Scott (Geri) Yingling of Neenah and Todd (Kendra) Yingling of Lakewood, 9 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 5 sisters-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jane and Earl, husband, Donald and brother, John.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 22 from 10-11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Lakes Catholic Church, Lakewood. Funeral Mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Weber-Hill Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences at www.weberhillfuneralhome.com.
