SARDIS, Ga. - It is with great sadness that the death of Marie Helminger Mobley, 85, is announced. Marie passed away on Thursday, October 11, 2007. Born June 3, 1922, Marie was the third child of Frances and Charles Helminger of Adell, Wisconsin. Marie was an Army nurse with the 75th Field Hospital and served in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Robert W. Mobley was a Navy Supply Officer when he met Marie on the island of Siapan. After her discharge, she traveled to Houston, Texas, to be married on March 8, 1946. Robert and Marie were married for 61 years in March. Marie was a faithful member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. She was preceded in death by a son, John Mobley. Marie will forever be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. She is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Robert W. Mobley, Sr.; her children and their spouses, Robert Mobley, Jr. and Pauline Beard of Waynesboro, GA, Dr. Mary Mobley of Augusta, GA, Dr. Michael Mobley and Debbie Mobley of Savannah, GA, Margaret and Tom Fisher of North Augusta, S C, Dr. Kathleen Mobley and Dr. Aziz Al'Khafaji of New Port Richey, Florida, Anne Mobley of Birmingham, MI, Elizabeth Mobley of Savannah, GA, James and Deborah Mobley of Waynesboro, GA, William and Laura Mobley of Evans, GA, Joan and Tommy Nelson of Evans, GA, and David Mobley of Waynesboro, GA; daughter-in-law, Joy Mobley, of Decatur, GA, 16 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. A Rosary Service will be held Sunday, October 14, 2007, at 5:00 p.m. at DeLoach-Kennedy Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 15, 2007, at First United Methodist Church in Waynesboro, with Father Dominique Duggan officiating. Interment will follow at Burke Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers are Daniel Mobley, Roy Jenkins, Robert Mobley, Jr., Dr. Michael Mobley, William Mobley, James Mobley, David Mobley, Ian Al'Khafaji, and Aziz Al'Khafaji, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bi-Lo Coffee Club. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Edmund Burke Academy Building Fund, 403 Highway 56 South, Waynesboro, GA 30830 or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, P. O. Box 1100, Waynesboro, GA 30830.
