- Peter J. Onkels Dies Suddenly
Peter John Onkels, 61, of 616 No. Forest St., died suddenly Tuesday aft ernoon while checking his daughter's horse at a South Side horse barn. Mr. Onkels, who was production manager for Pacific Coast Paper Mills, h ad driven his daughter, 13-year-old Stephanie to the barn and had sho wn no signs of the impending heart attack. He was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital by ambulance but was dead on arri val. A Bellingham resident for the past 35 years, Mr. Onkels was acti ve in civic affairs and had only recently been appointed a member of the p ark board.
ON HOSPITAL BOARD He was on the advisory board to St. Joseph's Hospital, and a memb er of the Bellingham Golf and Country Club, Bellingham Yacht Club and Be llingham Elks Lodge No. 194. Mr. Onkels was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Surviving him are his wife Carolyn M., at home; two sons Paul S. and Da vid G., both of Seattle; two daughters, Mrs. Celia Kyllingstad, Seattle, a nd Stephanie, at home. Also two brothers, A. M. Onkels of Concrete, and R ay C. of White Rock, B. C.; three sisters, Mrs. Leona Cheevers and Mrs. Ma rie Corcoran, both in Ontario, and Mrs. Helen Heindel, in Wisconsin; a nd a granddaughter, Michelle Onkels, Seattle. Rosary will be said Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the chapel of Bingham a nd Jerns Funeral Home. Requiem High Mass will be sung Friday at 9:30 a. m. at Sacred Heart Church with the Rev. Thomas R. Hanley, celebrant.
Interment will be at Greenacres Memorial Park.
