- Robert Van De Leygraaf, 74, Kaukauna, died Friday, Dec. 25, 2009. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine St., Little Chute, with Fr. James Hablewitz officiating. Visitation will be at 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the mass. A military prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute and a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Van De Leygraaf, Robert John
Bob Van De Leygraaf, 74, Kaukauna, died at home with the family he loved by his side, Friday, Dec. 25, 2009. Bob was born October 6, 1935, in the Town of Vandenbroek on the family farm, son of John and Leona Van Dyke Van De Leygraaf, and was a lifelong member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute.
Bob was a U.S. Army veteran with the 808th Tank Battalion, Company C, 274th Regiment, 84th Division, Appleton. In January 1958, Bob was sent to Fort Dix North Carolina for basic training, then Jackson Carolina for VAAC. In July 1958 he came home to the U.S. Army reserves and was honorably discharged in 1963. Bob was a proud member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. Bob worked as warehouse manager for Schiedermeyer Hardware on College Avenue in Appleton, then as a fabricator for Fox Tractor and Oshkosh Truck Corporation until he retired in April 2000. Bob loved camping with his family and friends in northern Wisconsin, Sunday drives, planting trees, picking hickory nuts, playing cards, dancing, and motorcycling with his good friend Norm.
Bob is survived by his wife, Caryl, and his children, Rob "Junior" Van De Leygraaf, Combined Locks, Gary (Lisa) Van De Leygraaf, Little Chute, Keith (Missy) Van De Leygraaf, Kaukauna, Julie Dake and special friend Jim Mischler, Kaukauna, stepson, Rob (Becky) Jaeckel, Wisconsin Rapids; grandchildren, Nicole Van De Leygraaf and special friend Tim Kline, Ryan and Lance Van De Leygraaf, Tyler Van De Leygraaf and special friend Kalli, Katelyn Van De Leygraaf, Kent and Ethan Van De Leygraaf, Justin Weyenberg and special friend Sarah, Steven Dake and special friend Molly; sisters and brother Dorothy (Darvin) Gagnow, Seymour; Arlene (Robert) Vande Voort, Little Chute, Lois "Jeanie" (Roman) Bruecker, Hollandtown; Jim (Sheryl) Van De Leygraaf, Woodruff; brother-in-law Ron Van Den Eng, Freedom; sister-in-law, Betty Rollo, Nekoosa, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents John and Leona Van De Leygraaf, infant son, Steven, brother, Damian and sister-in-law Everly Van De Legraaf and sister Elaine Van Den Eng.
Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2009, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 Pine St., Little Chute, with Fr. James Hablewitz officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be at 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute and at the church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the mass. A military prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute and a rosary will be prayed at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
Bob's family wishes to thank all the nurses and techs at Fox Valley Hematology and Oncology and St. Elizabeth Hospital for their wonderful care and compassion.
