- Hale, Sarah A.;Sarah A. Hale, age 89, passed away Friday, April 18, 2003 at St. Paul Hom e, Kaukauna. Sarah was born Aug. 31, 1913 in the Manitowoc County to wn of Maple Grove, daughter of the late John and Sarah (McGinty) Vogel. S he attended St. Patrick's School in Maple Grove and graduated from Reedsvi lle High School. She also graduated from Manitowoc County Normal School (T eacher's College). Sarah married John W. Hale on April 22, 1936 in Maple G rove; John preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1988. The couple lived in Re edsville until 1949 when John W. relocated his plumbing business to Manito woc. Sarah became a vital part of his growing business. Many will recall h er generosity and hospitality. While residing in Reedsville, Sarah w as an active member of St. Mary's Church where she was a past preside nt of the altar society. In Manitowoc, Sarah was also a life member and ch arter member of the Ladies Knights of Columbus where she served as past pr esident. She was also a Cub Scout Leader at St. Mary's in Manitowoc in h er younger years.Survivors include five children, Allan (Ginger) Hale, Green Bay; Sr. Sa ra Hale of Holy Angles Parish in Chicago; Sarah Joyce, Kaukauna; Martha (J ames) Gorzlancyk, Green Bay; and Tom (Sandy) Hale, Reedsburg. She loved a nd enjoyed her fifteen grandchildren, their spouses, and thirteen great-gr andchildren. She is also survived by her brothers and sister, William (Luc ille) Vogel, Manitowoc; Joseph (Rita) Vogel, Reedsville; Catherine Kaba t, Green Bay; sisters-in-law, Mary Vogel, Darboy; Marion (Don) Derfus, App leton; Clarice Wage, Two Rivers; Ellen (Alan) Coenen, Land O' Lakes. S he is also survived by her dear friend Mary Gable of Madison.Sarah was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John W. Hale; a d aughter, Sr. Mary Hale; a brother, Edward Vogel; a son-in-law, William Joy ce; four brothers-in-law; and one sister-in-law.The funeral liturgy for Sarah will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, April 2 2, 2003 at ST. MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1114 S. 21st Street in Manitowoc, wi th Fr. Thomas Wojciechowski officiating. Interment will follow at Evergre en Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Monday from 4 to 8 p. m. and again Tuesday directly at the church in Manitowoc from 10 a.m. unt il the hour of the service. There will be a prayer service at the funer al home on Monday at 7 p.m.
