- Vander Zanden (Newhouse), Elaine M.Elaine M. (Newhouse) Vander Zanden, loving wife, mother, grandmother, grea t-grandmother, age 83, died peacefully with family by her side on Monda y, September 12, 2005 at Kindred Hearts, Kaukauna. Elaine was born in Onei da on December 12, 1921 to Anthony and Anna (Vandenberg) Newhouse. After g raduating from Kimberly High School, she went to Milwaukee to work for t he Army Ordinance Dept. for 4 years. She returned to Kimberly and marri ed Charles Vander Zanden on September 14, 1946.Elaine was a long time member of Holy Name Parish in Kimberly and also S t. Martin's in Cecil, WI. She enjoyed many years of sewing, cooking, golfi ng, gardening, rug making, bowling and fishing. She chose to raise a famil y, rather than pursue her singing career.Elaine is survived by five children: Judy Ziegler (Harley Priebe) of Apple ton, Pat (Mike) Mathis of Madison, Jedd Vander Zanden of Kimberly, Kay Van der Zanden (Randy Ponschock) of Appleton and Nora (Ken) Hermus of Kimberl y. She is further survived by nine grandchildren: Troy (Tracy) Hietpas, Tr avis (Shelly) Hietpas, Melissa Meidl, Jodi (Craig) White, Logan and Land on Schuh, Sarah, Andy (Kelly) and Heather Hermus; eight great-grandchildre n: Zach, Katlyn, Morgan, Denver, Preston, Caden, Brenden and Kendryn. S he is further survived by a sister, Marie Vander Velden of Kaukauna; and n ieces and nephews.Elaine was preceded in death by her loving husband Charles, her parent s; a sister, Hazel Derfus; and two brothers, Merlin and Lloyd Newhouse.The funeral liturgy will be held at 5 p.m. on Thursday, September 15, 20 05 at HOLY SPIRIT PARISH - KIMBERLY, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Bur ial will be at St. Martin's Catholic Cemetery in Cecil, WI. Friends may ca ll at the CHURCH on Thursday from 3 - 5 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a memori al fund has been established.The family wishes to extend a special thank you to the 4 southwest wi ng at AMC Hospital, Kori and the staff at Kindred Hearts, ThedaCare Hospi ce and Chaplin Jordan for their loving care.Our mother has touched the lives of everyone that knew her with her warm a nd loving ways, especially her wonderful sense of humor. She will be great ly missed by her family, relatives and friends. Her final journey has brou ght her back to the love of her life; her memory will live forever in o ur hearts.
