- Margaret J. Vanden Hoogen, nee: Green, 82, Freedom, passed away on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008. Margaret was born on April 9, 1925, daughter of the late Joseph and Mae (Appleton) Green. Margaret married Tony Vanden Hoogen on June 3, 1948, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church in Freedom. He preceded her in death on Aug. 15, 1999. She was a cook for 21 years at Freedom Elementary School. She was a lifetime member of St. Nicholas Catholic Church, belonging to the Christian Mothers Society. She was a member of the VFW Women's Auxiliary. Margaret enjoyed embroidery, playing cards and word search.
She is survived by her children, Betty (John) Manders, Green Bay; Tom (Sandy) Vanden Hoogen, Little Chute; Ron (Sarah) Vanden Hoogen, Town of Menasha; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Alice Peterson and Agnes Weyers and sister-in-law, Rose Mary Green, all of Freedom. She is also survived by sisters-in-law, Frances (Leo) Gitter, Marie (Cyril) Schmoll, Lorraine (Earl) Callnin, Rose Vanden Hoogen, Leona Lancour and Mae Vanden Hoogen. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Linda; a brother, Joe Green Jr.; sisters, Edna Rickert and Isabelle Green.
The Funeral Liturgy for Margaret will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2008, at St. Nicholas Catholic Church, N4088 County Road E, Freedom, with Fr. Dave Hoffman officiating. Friends may call at FARGO FUNERAL HOME, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna, from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and also at the church on Wednesday from 11 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. There will be a prayer service at the funeral home at 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
The family would like to thank the staff at Good Shepherd Nursing Home, Seymour, for the love and care shown to Margaret and her entire family. Your care and concern will never be forgotten.
