- Poppe, Edward Joseph 521 S. W ilson Street Little ChuteAge 79, died peacefully with his family at his side Sunday, March 17, 20 02 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born February 12, 1923 in Kimberly; s on of Joseph and Hortence (Hofkens) Poppe. Edward married Florence Hamme n, September 12, 1944 and was a loving husband of 57 years. He was employ ed at The Mid Tech Mill for 40 years prior to his retirement. He was a lif elong member of St. John Catholic Church, Little Chute, the church choir a nd the athletic association of the church. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, wo odworking, knitting, crocheting and was always remembered for his famous P oppe popcorn earning the title of Popcorn King. He was a devoted father, g randfather and great-grandfather and enjoyed numerous ball games with h is grandchildren.Edward is survived by his wife, Florence; his children: Vicky (Butch) VanA sten, Kaukauna; Pat (Ken) VandenBurgt, Bill (Sandi) Poppe, and Chris (Jud d) Schommer, all of Little Chute; 14 grandchildren: Amie, Matt, Kayla a nd Rhea Schommer, Kelly, Kara and David Poppe, Brian (Anita) VandenBurg t, Cindy (Kurt) Hietpas, Shelly and Sarah VandenBurgt, Kim (Ken) Newhous e, Scott (Kris) VanAsten and Doug (Amy) VanAsten; five great-grandchildre n: Kyle, Kevin, Mari, Mason and Kennedy; a brother, Amedee (June) Poppe; f ive brothers-in-law: Ambrose (Ceil), William (Ike), Robert (Janice) and Ja mes (Alice) Hammen, and Paul Balgie; three sisters-in-law: Joan (Ken) Drie ssen, Eunice Hammen and Doris Vosters.Edward was preceded in death by his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Willi am (Ann) Hammen; two brothers, Albert (Martha) and Frank Poppe; two sister s, Mary (Sylvan) Williamson and Ann (Rich) Buechler; brothers-in-law and s isters-in-law: Maurice (Marie), Izzy (Helen) and Ernie Hammen, Ed (Agne s) Schuler, Gerry (Fritz) Keyzers, Rhea Balgie and Butch Vosters.Funeral services will be held at 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 20, 2002 at S t. John's Church with Rev. Msgr. James Vanden Hogen officiating. Interme nt will be in St. John's Cemetery, Little Chute.
