- Earl Sprangers, Springstead, WI, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2015, surrounded by his loving family at his home after a lengthy & courageous battle with cancer.
He was raised on the family farm in Sherwood, WI and graduated from Kaukauna High School. He served his Country for 2 years in the Army. He was employed by Ariens Co., Brillion, WI, for 30 years as a machinist. In June of 1997, he married his best friend and the love of his life Gail Vander Heiden/Wilz. They made their home on McDermott Lake in Springstead. He became employed by the Town of Sherman, where he worked 15 years as a Road Foreman until his illness forced him to retire.
Earl was a passionate hunter both at a cabin in Iola, the Sherwood area, and later in Catawba and Springstead. He loved to fish and especially enjoyed sturgeon spearing on Lake Winnebago. His garden was his pride and joy.
He is survived by his wife, Gail; sons, Marty (Ruth) Sprangers, children, Seth and Miah, Sherwood; Robin (Kathryn) Sprangers, children, Laura, Olivia, Haley and Trent, Pulaski; Nicholas Sprangers (special friend, Kelsey Walasek), Park Falls; Russell (Danette) Wilz, children, Cody, Lukas and Zackery, New Holstein; Aaron (Kayshia) Wilz, children, Kaden, Preston and Grayson, Menasha; daughter, Heidi Sprangers (fiance, Jeff Domro), children, Taylor and Dillon, Greenville; his 6 brothers, Ralph (Jean) Sprangers, Stillwater OK; David (Jeanne) Sprangers, Combined Locks; Frank (Beth) Sprangers, Menasha; Steve (Jane) Sprangers, Combined Locks; Larry (Julie) Sprangers, Menasha; Tom (Dawn) Sprangers, Menasha; mother-in-law, Grace Vander Heiden, Kimberly; sister-in-law, Kay (Edward) Hudak, Neenah; brother in-law, Gary (Gina) Vander Heiden, Grand Rapids, MI; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents, Lawrence Sprangers and Marileen Sprangers/Griesbach; stepfather, Leroy Griesbach; father-in-law, John Vander Heiden; brother and sister-in-law, James and Shirley Vander Heiden.
A very special thank-you to the wonderful care and staff from Flambeau Home Health & Hospice and the Oscar G. Johnson VA Hospital, Iron Mountain, MI.
A memorial celebration will be held on May 18, 2015, at the town of Harrison Town Hall from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers a donation can be made at the celebration to the Flambeau Home Health & Hospice.
