- Marine Captain Francis Yingling, Kaukauna, has been recommended for awards for his participation in medical evacuations missions in the Republic of Viet Nam. He is serving with the Marine Medium Helicopter Squadron to transport casualties from combat areas in the battle torn country.

- Yingling, Francis Harold "Frank" AppletonAge 74, passed away on Tuesday, February 12, 2002 at Appleton Medical Cent er. He was born on August 29, 1927 to the late Frank and Mary (Feller) Yin gling. He was married to Dolores Giebisch on November 6, 1954. Francis ser ved in the Navy from 1945 to 1953. In 1953 he entered the US Marine Cor ps to become a Naval aviator. He served in Korea and Vietnam, retiri ng as a helicopter pilot in 1966, with the rank of Major.Friends from years ago will remember Frank fondly with the many hunting a nd fishing trips hours, they shared with him. Years ago Francis was acti ve in his Zion Lutheran Church and the Aim Intervention Program.Francis is survived by his wife; a son, Gregory (Paula) Yingling; a daught er, Laurie Yingling; a grandson, Jake, all of Appleton; two brothers: Orvi lle (Beatrice), Boulder Lake, Wisconsin; James (Joanne), Laona, Wisconsi n; and a sister, Dorothy (Gene) Sage, Arkansas. He was preceded in dea th by an infant daughter, Antonette; three brothers: Jerome, Donald and No rbert Yingling. Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 16, 20 02 at Zion Lutheran Chapel, 912 N. Oneida Street, Appleton starting at 2: 00 p.m. with Pastor Larry Matthews leading a prayer service at 3:00 p. m. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established. Frank's wishes we re to be cremated.
