- Roland H. Kanaman, age 86, Shiocton, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016. He was born on December 3, 1929, son of the late Arthur and Myrtle (Herminath) Kanaman. On March 27, 1954, Roland married Betty Hooyman in Shiocton. He is a WWII veteran, serving his country in US Army. He worked for Neenah Foundry for 14 years and then at Coppens Construction until his retirement; Roland also did cash cropping and drove school bus. He raced stock cars at local tracks and loved to fish and play cards. He enjoyed spending time with friends at the Hometown Restaurant in Shiocton. He loved to tell stories and Jokes.
Roland is survived by sons, Alan (Dawn) Kanaman, Shiocton; Jack (Tina) Kanaman, Appleton; grandchildren: Tony (Cindy) Hoier; Jamie Hoier; Sarah (Tim) Kroll; Allison Kanaman and Shane Kanaman; great-grandchildren: Ian, Lillie, Mason, Beonca and Bradley. He is further survived by his in-laws, Roseanne (Don) Smith, Reno, Nevada; Nick (Helena) Kruzicki, Bear Creek and Diane Kanaman, Shawano, and also nieces, nephews, other relatives, close neighbors and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father Clayton Allender, wife Betty (2004), a brother Kenneth, a daughter Susan, a son Rick and a sister-in-law, Phyllis Kanaman.
Funeral services for Roland will be held on Friday, February 19, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at Borchardt Moder Funeral Home, Shiocton. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the St. Denis-Bovina Cemetery.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at St. Joseph Residence for the care and concern they showed to Roland.
