Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2006, at the RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 305 N. Tenth Street, De Pere. Visitation will continue after 9 a.m. Friday at the funeral home until 10 a.m. when the cortege will leave for church. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish Family, corner of Lourdes Ave. and Suburban Drive in De Pere with Fr. Tim Shillcox O.Praem officiating. Alvin J. Van Camp, age 80, De Pere passed away on December 4, 2006, surrounded by his family. Al was born April 7, 1926, in Freedom to the late John and Minnie Van Camp. On October 8, 1949, he married LaVerne Van Veghel at St. Mary of the Angels Catholic Church, Green Bay. Al retired from Fort Howard Paper after 40 years of service to the company. He enjoyed Deer Hunting, Turkey Hunting, playing cards, and going to the casino. His greatest joy however was spending time with children and grandchildren.
Al is survived by his children: Daniel (Joanne) Van Camp, Martin Van Camp, Diane Yakel, Susan (Robert) Janssen, Gerald (Patricia) Van Camp, Teresa (Ted) Fagan, 18 grandchildren, and three great grandchildren. He is further survived by his siblings: Virgil Van Camp, Ken (Nancy) Van Camp, Lil (Bernard) Vissers, Rita (Cliff) Schmidt, Marge (Jerome) Calaway, Mary (Bob) Miller, and his sister in law Audrey Van Camp.
Al was preceded in death by his wife LaVerne, his son Robert; two brothers: Fabian, and Cyril, his sister and brother in law Laurie and Bernard Albers, and his sister in law Barb Van Camp.
