- Richard D. Derfus, 70, passed away Monday, August 16, 2004 at home followi ng a lengthy illness. Richard was born on April 22, 1934 to the late Norbe rt and Nazel (Newhouse) Derfus, in Appleton, WI. He attended Notre Dame Un iversity on a football scholarship for one year and later graduated fr om UW Madison in 1958. On September. 7, 1957 he married the former Barba ra Karweick, in Appleton. They came to Green Bay in 1967 and he was the di strict agent for Northwestern Mutual Life Insurance. Richard was a memb er of the Charter Life Underwriter and a member of Million Dollar Round Ta ble. He also participated in Tuesday Morning Christian Mens Business Bib le Study.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; two sons and daughter-in-laws, Gary ( Marianne) Derfus, Minneapolis, MN and Gregory (Susan) Derfus, Eau Clair e, WI; one daughter and son-in-law, Nancy (Robert) Wudeck, Freno, TX; eig ht grandchildren: Katherine, Victoria, Elizabeth, Richard and Samuel Derfu s, Elyse, Benjamin and Robert Wudeck; mother-in-law, Victoria Karweick; o ne brother, Michael (Anne) Derfus, Appleton, WI; one sister, Gail Criscio n, Bradenton, FL; other relatives and friends.
Richard was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert "Bob" Derfus, Jo hn "Jack" Derfus and Eugene "Gene" Derfus.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, August 20, 2004 at Schau er & Schumacher Funeral Home, 340 S. Monroe. Visitation will continue aft er 10 a.m. on Saturday, August 21, 2004 at Bethel Baptist, 1601 Libal Stre et, funeral service at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Keith Crosby offi ciating.
