- Sadie Vivian Hopfensperger, age 90, died peacefully on Monday, October 21, 2013 at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute.
Sadie was born March 17, 1923 in Appleton, daughter of the late Edward and Hilda (Reneir) Nass. She was united in marriage to Herman Hopfensperger on November 1, 1946 in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Most important to her was her family. She loved spending time with her twin sister Sylvia and her many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She volunteered at Oneida Heights and enjoyed playing Rummy and Bingo. Sadie was also a member of Calvary Chapel in Appleton.
Sadie is survived by her eight children, Herman (Lynn) Hopfensperger, Pelican Lake; Alvin (Kathy) Hopfensperger, William (Judy) Hopfensperger, Tom (Sue) Hopfensperger, all of Appleton; Kenny Hopfensperger, New York; June Manos, Appleton; Sharon Knoll, Neenah; and Linda Harter, Clintonville; 19 Grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren; a brother, William "Bud" Nass, Elkhorn; two sisters, her twin Sylvia Hopfensperger, and Hildegard Verberten, Orlando, FL; and by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Sadie was also preceded in death by her husband, a daughter, Marlene Beyer and son-in-law Raymond Beyer, three brothers, William, Edward and Harold Nass, and by two sisters, Leora Meidam and Lylas Young and a brother-in-law, Eugene and several other family members.
The funeral service will be held 11:30AM Friday, October 25, 2013 at Calvary Chapel 2136 Newberry Street, Appleton, with Pastor Dwight Douville officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton. Sadie's family will receive relatives and friends at the church on Friday from 10:00AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established in Sadie's name.
