- Doris R. Van Dyke, age 87, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Oct 22, 2015. She was born in Appleton, July 5, 1928, daughter of the late Wilbert & Rose Ellenbecker. She married Robert M Van Dyke on Oct 15, 1949 at St Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton; Robert preceded her in death on December 3, 2005.
Doris gave freely of herself to those in need. She was a member of St. Therese Catholic Church where she volunteered her time and spent many hours in the kitchen. She also volunteered at St Vincent De Paul, the Salvation Army, St Therese, and as a Girl Scout leader. During her retirement she loved babysitting her grandchildren, and spending time at Pineland Park in Wild Rose with family. She will be remembered for her Easter brunches, birthday money can, and family celebrations.
She is survived by her seven children: Linda (Bob) Gunther, Glen MS; Mary (Tom) Borchardt, Madison; Carol (Ron) Rank, Appleton; Eileen (Lyle) Fischer, Greenville; Robert (Laurie) Van Dyke, Weyauwega; Pauline (Rick) Mader, Kaukauna; and Paula (Brian) Reichert, Menasha. She is further survived by one brother, Edward Ellenbecker; and 3 sisters: Amy Geiger, Joan Schneider & Marilyn Schlaefer; one brother-in-law, John Wisneski, 20 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren with another great grandchild on the way. She was further preceded in death by many brother-in-laws and sister-in-laws, and one son-in-law, Mark Weiland.
A Mass of Christian burial for Doris will be 11:00 AM on Monday October 26, 2015 at ST. THERESE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 213 E. Wisconsin Ave, with Fr. William Hoffman officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday beginning at 9:00 AM until the hour of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
The family would like to thank the Emerald Valley staff and the Affinity Hospice nurses for their wonderful care.
