- Janice A. Verhagen, age 69, Little Chute, passed away on January 20, 2013 surrounded by her loving family. She was born March 5, 1943, daughter of John R. and Lorraine G. (Lom) Jansen.
On June 3, 1964, she was united in marriage to Thomas S. Verhagen at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Little Chute. They were married for 40 wonderful years.
Jan was an active member of St. John's Parish serving as a Eucharistic Minister, member of the Social Concerns and Awareness Committee and the Food Pantry. She also volunteered her time at the Emergency Shelter of the Fox Valley.
She was employed with her husband for many years in the accounting firm they established. After the business was sold, she continued her employment with VVH & Associates, LLP until her retirement in 2004.
Jan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, sister-in-law and friend to many. She loved nothing more than spending time with her kids and grandkids. Whether it was attending the grandkids' sporting or school events, at one of the family cottages, or enjoying time in the comfort of her home.
Survivors include her children: Lisa (Paul) Bons, Paula (Paul) Aman and Michael (Kristin) Verhagen and grandchildren: Christa and Carly Vander Pas, Alex and Casey Bons; Katie and Haley Aman; Caleb, Joshua and Isaac Verhagen.
She is further survived by one sister: Susan (Dennis) Van Hoof; brother: John (Michele) Jansen; and brother-in-law: Peter Heesakker. Her husband's family: sisters-in-law: Jane (Joe) Janssen, Betty (Ken) Schnese and brother-in-law, Ken Vanden Heuvel. Special godchildren: Sharon Van Deraa, Randy Jansen, Mark Vanden Heuvel, Kathy Hermus and Dan Van Hoof. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and special friends.
Jan was preceded in death by her loving husband, Tom (Nig) on December 26, 2004; her parents; infant sister, Lorraine Jansen; sister Patricia Heesakker; her mother- and father-in-law, Peter and Elizabeth (Janssen) Verhagen; sister-in-law, Anne Vanden Heuvel.
Funeral services will be at 5:00 p.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine St., Little Chute, with Fr. Ron Belitz officiating and Msgr. Jim VandenHogen concelebrating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 4:15 p.m., Thursday, at the Verkuilen Funeral Home, 101 Canal St., Little Chute. A memorial has been established in Jan's name.
The family would like to thank Affinity Visiting Nurses Hospice for their assistance, compassion and support. A special thank you to all the angels here on earth who helped care for mom. She is now a beautiful angel watching over us all.
