  Spent four yeaars in the U.S. Navy, worked in bag mill and paper mill in K aukauna. Took job with U.S.Corps of Engineers as lockmaster and retired fr om that job in Montello. Was an avid hunter and fisherman. He owned and operated the Riverside Sport Shop in Montello by the dam for 30 years. A ll the children worked there at one time during the Summer months. Dad lov ed the outdoors and contributed much to the Wisconsin Conservation commis sion.
