- Eiting, Willi am J.William J. Eiting, St. Paul Villa, Kaukauna, age 87, died Saturday, Septem ber 23, 2006, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Appleton. He was born Augu st 7, 1919,in Kaukauna, the son of the late William A. and Lillian (Kee f) Eiting. Bill graduated from Kaukauna High School class of 1936, whe re he played trombone in the band, and served with the Army in the Pacif ic as part of the World's Greatest Generation in World War II. He operat ed an A&P grocery store on Second Street in Kaukauna after the war until s tarting his own business on the north side. In 1964 he purchased a busine ss in Kimberly, and operated Eiting's Supermarket until he retired in 198 6. Bill enjoyed fishing and the cottage at Boulder Lake. He was an avid ba seball fan, and a huge Packers fan. He could fix or build anything he p ut his mind to. Bill loved traveling after his retirement. He also loved s pending time with his grandchildren.Bill was a longtime member of the Kiwanis, the Knights of Columbus, and t he American Legion Post 60, Kimberly.Bill is survived by his wife, Rose, and his twin sons: John Eiting, Casa G rande AZ, and Joseph (Leone) Eiting, Little Chute; seven grandchildren: Ja son Smith, Kaukauna; Clint (Jodi) Smith, Appleton; Nichol Eiting, Scottsda le AZ; Paul (Emi Ridenour) Eiting, Arlington VA; Michael Eiting, Tucson A Z; Katherine Eiting, Scottsdale AZ; Stephen Eiting, Little Chute; four gre at-grandchildren: Allison, Crystal, Justin, and Kaileigh Smith, and form er daughter-in-law Linda Boelter. He is also survived by Rose's childre n: Robert (Helen) Eiting, Little Chute and their children, Rob (Carie) a nd Tim and Nick, Mary Kay (Andy) Hess, Green Bay, and their children, Jose ph (Kristin), Katie (John) and Craig, Mary Ann (Tom) Walsh, De Pere and th eir children Todd and Troy, Gerri (Jim) DeBruin, Denver, NC, and their chi ldren, Julie, Jamie (Candice), Jesse and Danni (Ryan), Bruce (Kathy) Eitin g, Appleton and their children, Matt, Erick, Bruce J. and Amy, and Rick (W endy) Eiting, Appleton and their children, Heather (Kirk), Sarah (Dave), A ngie (Todd), Michael, Ashley, Myke and Danni, Terry (Chris) Eiting, Litt le Chute and their children Jill and Jenny, Hugh (JoAnne) Eiting, Greenvil le and their children Josh and Jaci. Seventeen great-grandchildren and a g reat-great-grandchild. Survivors include his sister Margaret Coffey, a bro ther Thomas Eiting, and brother in law and sister-in-law Edward and Sere na Oliva.Bill was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, M. Lillian (Oli va) Eiting, his sister Adeline (Herb) Niesen, and brother Robert Eiting, a nd brother-in-law Cliff Coffey, and grandchildren Alyson Eiting, Jamie Eit ing, and Ben Jansen.Bill's Mass of Christian Burial will be 6:15 p.m. on Wednesday, Septemb er 27, 2006, at Holy Name of Jesus at Holy Spirit Parish in Kimberly wi th Fr. David Funk officiating. Friends will be received form 12 Noon unt il 5:30 p.m. on WEDNESDAY at the BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Field crest Drive, Kaukauna. Bill's cortege will depart the funeral home at 5: 45 p.m. Burial and Full Military Honors will take place at Holy Cross Ceme tery in Kaukauna on Thursday at 11 a.m.The family would like to thank the staff at St. Elizabeth Hospital on 4 So uth and St. Paul Villa for the Love and compassion they gave dad during h is time of need.
Email from Andy Wegner; Hi Helen and all, We have been vacating in Australia for the past seven weeks, so am just catching up on e-mail. Yes, William J. Eiting is related. Jeanne's original note indicated, his grandparents were Bernard Henrich Eiting and Petronella Geisbers. I think they would have been his great grandparents: William J. Eiting (1919-2006): parents were William Antone Eiting (1883-1963) and I believe an O'Keffe (obit says "Keef"). William Antone's parents were William J. Eiting (born about 1851, died 1934) and Josephine Rademacher. William J.'s parents were Bernard Henrich Eiting (1822-1892) and Petronella Giesbers. It was of course Bernard Henrich's sister, Catherine Elisabeth (1816-1885) that married Johann Vinkenvleugel (1816-1880).It is, by the way, William J. Eiting's nephew (and stepson), Rick that own the Greenville Station restaurant in Greenville. William J. Eiting's wife, Rose L. McKan, had been previously married to William J.'s brother.
