- Gordon Anthony (Gordy) Ver Kuilen, 90, Little Chute, passed away peacefully Friday, Nov. 3, 2006. Gordy was born February 14, 1916, in Sault Ste Marie, Ontario, Canada, son of the late John and Lena (Verstegen) Ver Kuilen. He married Dorothy Lynham July 6, 1940, at Blessed Sacrament Church, Sault Ste Mare. During Gordy's life he worked and retired as a machinist from Thilmany Pulp and Paper, Kaukauna. Gordy operated Hammen's Bar in Little Chute.
He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II and was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. He was also a member of Fox Valley Golf Course and St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Gordy enjoyed golfing at Fox Valley Golf Course, playing cards with his friends and spending time with his family. Everyone loved coming to his home for his famous old fashions, the jokes and stories he would tell and to sit awhile on the back porch and enjoy the wonderful view of the river with him.
Gordy is survived by, his wife Dorothy, of 66 years; four children, Robin (Tom) Wipperfurth, Minocqua; Robert (Jo Ann) Ver Kuilen, Little Chute; Richard Ver Kuilen, Menasha; Ronald (Colleen "Clem") Ver Kuilen, Little Chute; 12 grandchildren, Brian Wipperfurth and special friend Fritz Jung, Madison; Brad (Jody) Wipperfurth and Todd (Denise) Wipperfurth, both of Minocqua; Mark (Teresa) Ver Kuilen, Appleton; Karen Williams, Appleton; Stacey (Kevin) Doucette, Shiocton; Nicole (Eric) Ruffles and Jodie Ver Kuilen, both of Greeley, Colo.; Richelle (Jordan) Grady, Kaukauna; Melissa (Dave) Schmidt, Appleton; Brent Ver Kuilen and fiancee Dee Pluger, Little Chute; Tyler Ver Kuilen and special friend Marie Hanneman, Little Chute; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister, Reva Ovens, Sault Ste Marie; a brother, James (Lois) Ver Kuilen, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Kathryn Ver Kuilen, Green Bay; a brother- and sister-in-law, Jim and Ethel Lynham, Ontario, Canada.
He was preceded in death by, his parents, John and Lena (Verstegen) Ver Kuilen; father-and mother-in-law, William and Dora Lynham; brother, William Ver Kuilen; sister, Pearl Breton; brothers-in-law, Romeo Breton, William Ovens, Jack Lynham, Elmer Cripps, Pat Yanni, Gilbert Friday; sisters-in-law, Connie Cripps, Betty Yanni, Mary Lynham and Gladys Friday.
Funeral services will be held at 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church from 2 p.m. Wednesday, until the time of the mass. Military rites will performed by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute following the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established.
