- Richard C. Vils, 80, of 582 Maitland Drive, Chippewa Falls died Saturday, July 12, 2008, at the Veterans Hospital in Minneapolis.
He was born Jan. 9, 1928, in Kaukauna, the son of August and Elizabeth (Nushart) Vils. He earned a pharmaceutical degree from UW-Madison. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a medic. Richard married Donna Carey on Oct. 3, 1953, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Appleton. He owned and operated Badger Pharmacy for many years. He was a member of Holy Ghost Church and the Knights of Columbus Goldsmith Council 974. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, biking, canoeing, fishing and spending time with his family - especially the family vacation. He hugged everybody he met.
Richard is survived by three sons, Michael of Knoxville, Tenn., James (Mary) of Oshkosh and Daniel (Karen) of Mosinee; two daughters, Kathy (Bryan) Querberg of Fair Haven, Minn., and Mary Joles of Chippewa Falls; three sisters, Rose Voight of Appleton, Grace Jansen of Little Chute and Marie Truyman of Kaukauna; and nine grandchildren, Jerrod, Katie, Joseph, Maggie, Sarah, Chris and Nathan Vils, Shawn Querberg and Sheila Joles.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Donna; his parents; two brothers, Joseph and Frank Vils; and two sisters, Alice Vils and Blanche Hanson.
Funeral services will be at noon on Wednesday, July 16, 2008, at Holy Ghost Church, Chippewa Falls. The Rev. Edmund Doerre will be celebrant of the funeral Mass. Interment will be in Hope Cemetery, Chippewa Falls, with military rites conducted by the Chippewa Falls Patriotic Council.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday, July 16, at Holy Ghost Church, Chippewa Falls.
