- Merle G. "Merk" Krueger, Appleton, age 70, passed away on Thursday, February 1 6, 2006, at Appleton Medical Center after a courageous battle with cance r. He was born on June 7, 1935, in Black Creek to the late Harry and Lau ra (Jentz) Krueger. Upon graduating from Seymour High School in 1953, he s erved his country with the Marines during the Korean War and later attend ed Lawrence University. He was employed for many years by American Can a nd the Appleton Post-Crescent. He was proud to be the former preside nt of the Wisconsin F.F.A., and a member of the V.F.W., the American Legio n, and the Genesis Club. He enjoyed ceramics, gardening, and traveling, es pecially to the Rockies.
He will be sadly missed by his children: Kirby Krueger, Appleton; Kraig Kr ueger, Fremont; Kathy (Dan) Chippeaux, Appleton; Kevin "Joe" (Wanda) Krueg er, Appleton; Korey (Wendy) Krueger, Appleton; his former wife, Janet Krue ger, Appleton; grandchildren: Karson, Jessica, Jacquie, Anthony, Lydia, a nd Kaden; as well as many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services for Mr. Krueger will be held on Monday, February 20, 200 6, at 4 p.m. at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church (3009 N. Meade Street) wi th Rev. Dennis E. Ellisen officiating. Friends may call at the Wichmann Fu neral Home on Sunday, February 19, from 2 until 4 p.m. and again on Mond ay from 3 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Highla nd Memorial Park. A memorial is being established.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff in the Oncology unit at A ppleton Medical Center and the staff at Franciscan Care Center for their s pecial care. We also want to thank Dad's many friends of Bill W.
