- Louise B. Loehning (Mrs. Gaylord C. Loehning), 102, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 19, 2007, at the Fairhaven Retirement Community in Whitewater, Wis. The former Louise B. Stadler was born on Dec. 30, 1904, to Joseph and Frances Stadler, grew up in Manawa, Wis. and graduated from Oshkosh Business College. Following her marriage in 1933 to Gaylord C. Loehning, a prominent Neenah attorney, she resided in Neenah until recent years when she moved to Whitewater to be near family. She was a longtime member of St. Patrick's Church in Menasha, Wis., a member of Catholic Daughters and a 50+ year member of the Tuesday Club. Known for her graciousness, she enjoyed reading, travel, bridge and entertaining her many friends and family members.
She is survived by a brother, Charles (Bea) Stadler, Neenah; two daughters, Jane L. Loper (Carl R.), Madison, Wis., Helen M. Rose (Fred A.), Fort Atkinson, Wis.; and a son-in-law, James R. Mellberg, Tryon, N.C.; seven grandchildren, Cynthia (Jeffrey) Koch and Anne Loper; Eric (Gail) Mellberg, Diane (Anthony) King and Laura (Steven) Nessmiller; Kathy (David) Friedman and Cheryl (Matthew) Lind; and six great-grandchildren, Bridget King, Linda and Luke Nessmiller; and Lena, Louisa and Geofrey Friedman.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gaylord C. Loehning; a daughter, Gail M. Mellberg, and a granddaughter, Linda Mellberg.
A funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, July 24 at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Menasha, Wis. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. preceding services. Entombment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Neenah, Wis.
Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church or to Fairhaven Foundation of Whitewater, Wis.
