- Lillian Edna Micke, age 98, of Hudson, passed away Monday, Feb. 1, 2010, at the Christian Community Home.
She was born the youngest of 10 children to Gustav and Alvina (Bauch) Klabunde on Oct. 2, 1911, in Springfield, Minn. Lillian worked as a supervisor in a factory for the Society of the Blind, retiring in 1966.
After her retirement, she became passionate about politics, volunteering as a commissioner on senior housing. She enjoyed traveling throughout the US, meeting senators and other politicians. Lillian enjoyed knitting with her flat bed machine as well as sewing and crocheting, but above all she loved her family, especially enjoying time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, William Joseph; son, William Jr.; and nine siblings.
Lillian will remain in the hearts of her daughter, Marlene (Jim) Carciofini of Hudson; eight grandchildren, LaVonne Waldon, Julie (Dave) Dillon, Annette (Scott) Foltz, Barb (John) Rawlings, Laura Waldon, Curt (Donna) Waldon, Michelle (Jon) Weaver and William J. Micke III; 15 great- and many great-great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and extended family.
A funeral service for Lillian will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Feb. 5, with visitation from 10-11 a.m., at the O'Connell Family Funeral Home in Hudson, 715-386-3725. Interment will follow at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minnesota.
