- Cornelius J. Ebben, age 84 of Greenville, died peacefully at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Appleton, on Monday afternoon, January 23, 2012.
Corneil was born on July 26, 1927, in the Town of Vandenbroek, Wisconsin, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Hietpas) Ebben. He started his work career at Thilmany Paper Mill in Kaukauna. He then farmed in Greenville from 1950 thru 1979; and then worked for and retired from Bill Rathsack Trucking.
Corneil was a member of the Greenville Volunteer Fire Department, the Greenville Civic Club, and a longtime member of St. Mary's Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Greenville.
He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Caroline; 13 children, seven sons and six daughters: Margaret (Don) Schroeder, Judy (Gary) Ver Voort, Joseph (Debbie) Ebben, Mary (Ray) Buckmiller, Paul (Connie) Ebben, Ken (Janice) Ebben, Rosanne (Dave) McCarthy, Tony (Louise) Ebben, Marty (Bonnie) Ebben, Dave (Jan) Ebben, Carolyn (Dan) Plutz, Pat (Christine) Ebben, and Jill (Chris) Amerson; 37 grandchildren, Rene' (Eric) Born, Todd (Kelly) Schroeder, April (Ryan) Rosenfeldt, Chad (Sara) Schroeder, Jim (Sue) VerVoort, Paul (Jill) VerVoort, Mark (Katie) VerVoort, Shaun Ebben, Brian (Katie) Ebben, Jacob Buckmiller, Jessica (Tony) Austin, Alison (Nick) Kahl, Julia (Chris) Eggert, Rachel (Nate) Kroger, Emily, Laura, and Don Ebben, Jesse McCarthy, Nichol (Tom) Schultz, Adam (Marie) McCarthy, Aaron and Alexandria Ebben, Dean and Steve Ebben, Tammy (Dale) Stern, Jimmy (Ashley) Falk, Kimberly and Michael Ebben, Ben (Tricia) Plutz, Becky, Joe, and Jason Plutz, Ryan and Nick Ebben, Justine Amerson (Scott Olson) and Josh Amerson; 27 great-grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Gerald (Ethel) Ebben, John (Rose) Ebben, Mary Feldkamp, Irene (James) Diedrich, and George (Rosamond) Ebben; sister-in-laws, Roberta (Edward) Luedtke, and Estelle Genske. Many other nieces, nephews, relatives and special friends, also survive Corneil.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Elizabeth Ebben; sister, Margaret Ebben; grandson, Keith Ebben; brother-in-law, Howard Feldkamp; in-laws, Robert and Wilda Squires; brother and sisters-in-law, Mary and Ves Berghuis, Pauline and Herbert Busse, and Robert Genske.
The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at St. Elizabeth's Hospital and Rennes Health Care for the wonderful care they gave Corneil.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 28, 2012, at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, N2385 Municipal Drive, Greenville, with Fr. Mark Vander Steeg officiating. Family and friends may call directly at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund is being established.
