- Norbert C. Benzshawel, age 77, of Chattanooga, Tenn., passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2005, in Chattanooga, Tenn.
Norb was born Aug. 8, 1927 in Manitowoc, son of the late Matthew and Clara Neuser Benzshawel.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter: Karla Jeanne; his parents; two brothers: Richard and Donald, father-in-law and mother-in-law: John and Mary Buretta; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Daniel and Eleanor Buretta; and a brother-in-law: Henry Osesek.
Norb graduated from Lincoln High School with the class of 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy. Norb graduated from St. Norbert's College in De Pere in 1950. On Sept. 11, 1949, he married Lois Buretta at St. Boniface Catholic Church. He was employed by J.C. Penney Company for 36 years. Retiring in September 1989, from Clinton, Iowa, to Hot Springs Village, Ark., where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include his wife of 55 years: Lois, Chattanooga, Tenn.; a daughter and son-in-law: Gina and Scott Harris, Chattanooga, Tenn.; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Jay and Ann Benzshawel, Des Moines, Iowa; David Benzshawel, Dallas, Texas; five grandchildren: Daniel and Addison Benzshawel; Jeremy, Justin and Jordan Harris; one brother and three sisters-in-law: Gerald and Marlene Benzshawel, Appleton; Barbara Benzshawel, Luxemburg; Joyce Benzshawel, Appleton; two brothers-in-law and three sisters-in-law: Don and Adeline Matheys, Bella Vista, Ark.; Victor and Ruth Buretta, Manitowoc; and Elayne Osesek, Manitowoc. Also surviving are nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2005, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home and 11 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Officiating at the Mass of Christian Burial will be the Rev. Camillus Janas O.F.M. with entombment of the cremated remains at Calvary Mausoleum, Manitowoc. Graveside military rites will be accorded by VFW Otto Oas Post #659.
The family will greet relatives and friends from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2005, at The Pfeffer Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Manitowoc.
