My name is B ill Buivid and I live in Sheboygan Falls, WI. I have been researchi ng my Goedde side of the family, and my gg grandfather Johann Goedde lo st his first wife. His second wife was a widower and had lost her first h usband Nicholas Stemper. Her maiden name was Anna Helein. She was the fi rst of nine children born to Andreas Helein and Magdalena Stempe r. I am a descendent of my gg grandfathers first wife.What follows is parts of a email that I sent to a woman who had posted Gal les info at gencircles.com. She had a Magdalena Gales/Galles listed whe re birth year matched. She has copy of birth record, but headstone mon th and date that I have don't match. For two reasons this right now th is doesn't concern me; first, I have seen many misspellings and wrong hea dstone dates, and second, there were only a handful of Galles's down he re at that time. It will only take one smoking gun to prove me wro ng . . . but until then, I'm assuming they are the same Magdalena Galles ( that's how its spelled in most of the church records down here, one less ' l' in the Luxembourg church records).I have only been doing this a little over a year. I've been better at col lecting pieces of info than getting it into the computer. I stoppedentering, but still collected as I found things this summer. Will resu me this winter. I'd like to share this for now until I'm better organized and my cousin (s he is a descendent of the second marriage) and I get a chance to go throu gh the local church records more. The records are really difficult to rea d. Last name was spelled Haline. Not sure why all the children don't sh ow up. John Peter (Feb. 19, 1862) Paul (May 16, 1864) John (June 4, 1869) We're still working on the date/name discrepancies, but I trust the chur ch records more.There are many Heleins listed at 'worldconnect', just haven't had the ti me to piece it all together. This is where I first found your info post ed as well as Paul West's. My cousin has contacted Paul West who is the y oung boy responsible for entering most of the info. He is not in conta ct with the Helein side, but we would like to contact them to see if a pic ture of Anna might exist.The Nicholas Galles I mentioned at Anna's christening . . . do you fe el it would be more likely an uncle than a grandfather as a sponsor?I going to mention up front that its hunting season in WI and I will be o ut a lot.
