  Gretchen Marie Doering, nee Driessen, 97, Kaukauna, died on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at her home. She was born on May 4, 1910, daughter of the late Edward "Cy" and Regina (Clarke) Driessen. Gretchen graduated from Kaukauna High School and attended two years of business college. She married Harvey Doering who preceded her in death in 1989. She and Harvey owned and operated the Doering's Super Valu Stores. Gretchen was actively involved in the community serving as a PTA president and president of the Business and Professional Woman's Club of Kaukauna. She also actively supported programs for developmentally disabled citizens. She loved playing bridge, golfing, dancing, playing Scrabble and creating beautiful needlework. As the oldest, she is survived by her brother, Gene Driessen and her sister, Katherine Dickinson. Gretchen's children are William (Patricia) Doering, Appleton; Sharon (Gene) Fassbender, Appleton; and Kathi (Terry) Bulfin, Bellevue, Wash. She was a loving grandmother to John Doering, Amy (Paul) Kraft, Steven Doering, Paul (Caryl) Fassbender, Jeanne (Kevin) Stein, Sarah (Todd) Fellerer, David (Debbie) Atwood, Regina (Simon) Mawby, Ehrin and Kaila Bulfin. The twinkle in her eye came from her 14 great-grandchildren, Gus, Ray, Henry and Ned Kraft; Quincy Fassbender; Tyler, Shelbi and Tatum Stein; Sam and Casey Fellerer; Noelle and Regan Atwood; Winifred and Gretchen Mawby. She was preceded in death by her son, Scott; her daughter, Greta Atwood; her brothers, Robert and Tom Driessen; and her sister, Dorothy Weaver. Funeral services for Gretchen will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2008, at the FARGO FUNERAL HOME, 400 W. Wisconsin Ave., Kaukauna. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Kaukauna.
