- Margaret M. Probst, Kaukauna
On January 26, 2015 Margaret M. Probst joined the company of the saints, welcomed in the presence of her Lord by a multitude of family and friends who went before her on the path to salvation. Margaret was born on October 7, 1922 on the Probst family homestead on Manitowoc Road in the Town of Harrison, the youngest of six children of William and Anna (Porsche) Probst. She spent her whole life on the farm settled by her great-grandparents in the 1850's. After caring for her parents at home until her mother's death in 1948, Margaret stayed on as homemaker to her brothers, Carlos and Erwin, who farmed there all their lives. Margaret was a central figure for all of her family so that a visit to the "Homestead" was an event of family bonding and history. In addition, Margaret was an accomplished cook and baker, so no Christmas was complete without some of her "caramel logs" and "chocolate oysters." Margaret was full of warmth and humor; she always found a joke or story to liven up a visit. Margaret's presence will be sorely missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by her sister-in-law, Rosemary Probst, nieces and nephews: Lorraine (Bob) Herman, Helen De Bruin, Ralph Probst, Phyllis Kempen, Allen Probst, Roland Probst, Rita (Chuck) Nelson, Mary Ann (Richard) Daczyk, Ellen (Brian) Starszak, Theresa Adrian, and Joseph (Kathy) Probst.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Clara, four brothers: Clemens, Erwin, Carlos and Alois; one brother-in-law, William Hoehne, one sister-in-law, Crescentia Probst; nieces and nephews: Carlton Hoehne, Barbara Hoehne, Carol Woulf, Vernon Probst, Arlyn Probst, Leon A. Probst and Leon D. Probst.
Mass of Christian Burial for Margaret will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday January 31, 2015 at Holy Spirit Parish at Holy Angels Church, Darboy with Fr. Bob Kollath officiating. Friends may call directly at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of mass. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in her name. The family has chosen Boettcher Family Funeral Home, Kaukauna to assist them. www.boettcherfamilyfuneral.com 766-2099
