- Joyce A. Strick, age 81, a resident of Phelps, WI since 1991 died peacefully at her home on Wednesday, October 7, 2015, following a prolonged battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born in Kaukauna, WI, on August 11, 1934, to Neil and Regina (Kern) Heup. Joyce graduated high school in Kaukauna, WI, and received her BS in nursing from Marian College in Fond du Lac, WI. She married her husband: Thomas L. Strick on September 7, 1957, in Kaukauna, WI. They lived in Kaukauna, Neillsville, Winneconne, Napoleon (Ohio '73-'78), and Merrill before retiring on Lac Vieux Desert in Phelps, WI. Joyce worked as a nurse at Kaukauna Community Hospital during the 1960s, Napoleon Community Hospital in Napoleon during the 1970s, Holy Cross Hospital in Merrill during the 1980s, the Phelps Hospital and Lillian E. Kerr Nursing Home in Phelps, WI, after 1991. Joyce will be remembered and missed dearly by family and friends. Joyce was one to always think of others before herself. Joyce loved to cook and care for her home for everyone to enjoy. Joyce loved music; she will be remembered singing her favorite songs. Joyce was a great mother and grandmother. Joyce loved to cook and always made sure a great meal was made. There were many things she cooked which were unmatched, including chocolate chip cookies and "scotch-a-roo" bars. She enjoyed taking care of the hummingbirds, perch fishing, and playing bridge. She loved to watch the Game Show Network. She loved the Milwaukee Brewers, as did her mother, and she enjoyed watching the Packer game. She simply loved being in the northwoods. She always wore a great smile and gave a helping hand to anyone when it was needed. Joyce was preceded in death by her husband: Thomas L. Strick in 1998; her daughter: Jeannine Strick in 2010; her parents; and her sister: Donna in 1991. She is survived by her sons: Thomas (Manda) Strick of Wausau, WI; Michael Strick of Phelps, WI; and Jeffrey (Angie) Strick of Kronenwetter, WI; brothers-in-law: George (Deb) Strick of Waunakee, WI, and Scott (Diane) Strick of Appleton, WI; sister-in-law: Joan Robinson of Kimberly, WI; grandchildren: Alissa, Ben, Morgan, Lucas, Dain, and Lauryn; and great grandson: Dante. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 13, 2015, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Phelps, WI. Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church. Burial in Phelps Cemetery.
