- See Image MAN KILLED IN 2-CAR CRASH, by Joe Kna ppen, Advocate Staff Reporter.An elderly man was killed and five other people were injured in a two vehi cle crash Saturday in Ephraim. Norbert L. Conrad, 81, was pronounced de ad at the scene. Five other people were taken to Door County Memorial Hos pital for treatment of injuries. The death was Door County's second fatal ity this year. According to the Door County Sheriff's Department, the cra sh occurred at 2:11 p.m. Saturday on Highway 42, Water Street, near Anders on Lane in Ephraim. According to Sgt Jon Koch, a GMC sport utility vehic le driven by Marvin P Brockman, 47, of Kaukauna, was northbound on the hig hway when it rear-ended a car driven by Mark E. Davis, 37, of Wheaton, IL .. Conrad, a passenger in the rear seat of Brockman's light truck di ed at the scene, Koch said. A pre-existing medical condition of Brockman 's was listed as a factor that contributed to the accident, according to t he accident report. Condition was not identified. After the impact the D avis car was pushed to the shoulder of the road. Brockman's truck went o ff the pavement where the road curves sheared off some trees and came to r est in a deep ditch alongside the highway. Brockman and his wife, Kathlee n, 47, and another passenger, Eva M Conrad, 78, all of Kaukauna, where tak en to DCMH where they were admitted for treatment of various injuries. Da vis and his wife, Kathleen, also receive treatment at the DCMH emergency r oom but were not admitted. Their three children-ages 1, 6, and 10-were ex amined by the paramedics at the scene but did not require additional medic al attention at the hospital. The county's first fatality of 1999 occurr ed January 14th when John S. Reiss, 85, of Sister Bay died from injuries s ustained in a two car crash.
