- John Joseph Phildius, 63, of 3711 W. Theresa St. died Sunday at a hospital.
A native of Yugoslavia, Mr. Phildius resided in Pensacola for the past 37 years. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and a member of Little Flower Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife,Ruth Phildius of Pensacola; two sons, Virgil John Phildius of Ridgecrest, Calif., and John Michael Phildius of Atlanta, GA.; a daughter, Mrs. G. Todd Givens (Cindy) of Key West; a brother, Duke Phildius of Silverhill, Ala.; a half-sister,Hazel Hatton of Pensacola; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:15 a.m. Thursday in the Oak Lawn Funeral Home Chapel with Monsignor Raymond Mullin officiating.
Active pallbearers will be Richard E. Gregorius, Vincent Gregorius,Keith Phildius,Charles Stecz,Steve Lambert and Randy Brennan.
Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Blanchard, Archie Boyce, Tye Roberts and Gerald Hicks.
Burial will be at Barrancaas National Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. at Oak Lawn.
A 6:30 p.m. rosary will be recited at the funeral home.
