S mith and was a houewife d. 14 January 1963 at age 67; was widow ed a the time of her death. Death caused by thrombosis of the basilar art ery (death cert. signed by G. W. Smith, M. D.) at Mckennan Hospital in Sio ux Falls and/or possible brain tumor (burial cert.). Next of kin and infor mant was daughter Mrs. Helen M. LAMB of1109 Hudson St., Irving, TX. Merle J. SMITH b. 29 Sept.1901 m. at some time to Inez SMITH who was al so the inforant at the time of death. d. 19 June 1966 at age 64 at McKenn an Hospital in Sioux Falls of adeno carinoma of te stomach after an ons et 3 months earlier. His usual residence was in Tea, Lincoln Co., SD whe re he w as a retired station operator. Merle's father was Louis Ewin SMIT H. Mother was Theresa FELLER.He was never in the armed forces, nor did he have a social security numbe r. Buried 22 June 1966
Orlow SMITH's burial certiicate idicated that he died on24 Apil 1959 at a ge 51 in Aberden, SD of coronary thromosis. He is urined in Munt Pleasa nt Cemetery in Sioux Falls at Lot -21, Grave: first from south--west 1/ 2. His service was by Banton Chapel n Sioux Falls.I could find no death certificate, nor an marriage certificate for Orlow.
Darwin SMITH. I found no death or burial cerificates, but a marriagecerti ficate or a Darwin Smith to a Toni Engler on 31 August 1979 was on fil e. It is unlikely this would be the same Darwin; could it be a relative?
A Merle S. SMITH, b. 1 March 1925, married Nila D. Merritt of Sioux Fal ls on23 Ag 1946 at East Side Luteran Church in Sioux Falls. He died on 3 A ug 1961 in Hardin Co., IA, four miles west of Alden, IA, at the a ge of 36 of a crushed chest. His usual residence was 1003 S. Wayland, Sio ux Falls, and his next of kin was his wife Nila. He served in the Navy fr om 2 June 1943 until 16 Jan 1946 and his rank was SF 3/c (T) with seri al # 3119669. He was buried at Hills of Rest Section D Lot 52, Gra ve 1 on 7 Aug 1961. Could this be a son or nephew?
Finally, ran out of time, but an entry in the marriage records showed a L eona SMITH marrying a Carl WEST on 30 April 1924. Would need to check in to death and burial certificates of (first?) husband Clarence C. SMIT H, as well as possible mariage of daughter Helen Smith LAMB to determine r elationshps.Bev
