  Arneson, Victor L. "Bumper" "PaPa" Appleton A kind and gentle man, a generous and thoughtful husband and father. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends, but his spirit will continue through those whose lives he touched. May he rest now in peace knowing that his work here was accomplished well. Age 83, passed away, with his family by his side, on Tuesday September 24, 2002 at Cherry Meadows Hospice. Victor was born February 3, 1919 in Bear Creek, moving to Appleton as a child. He worked 42 years at Kimberly-Clark, starting in 1937 at the Atlas Mill and then at Lakeview Mill until his retirement in 1981. Victor was instrumental starting Lakeview Credit Union and served on the board of directors for 25 years. He was united in marriage to Ethel Hauser on February 20, 1943 in Miami, Florida, sharing 59 years together. He was a veteran of WWII serving with the Army's 144th Infantry from 1941-1945,which was headquartered at Camp Bowie, TX. Victor was a life member of St. Pius X Catholic Church and a member of American Legion Post #38 of Appleton. He will be deeply missed by his wife Ethel; three children Linda (Jim) Wagnitz of Porterfield, Wi, and their daughters Heather (Joe) Donati and Kellie Hillers, Michael Arneson and his children David and special friend Jessica, Christopher (Bobbie), Shena, and Kevin Arneson, Kathy (Tim) McGuire of Appleton and their sons Andy and Marcus McGuire; a brother LeRoy Arneson of Appleton; sister-in-law Carol Arneson of Appleton; and a brother-in-law Larry (Lu) Hauser of Florida; also many nieces, nephew, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, Victor was preceded in death by a son Stephen V. Arneson; two brothers Vernon and Arnold Arneson; and sister-in-law Shirley Arneson. Memorial services, will be held 4pm Saturday September 28th at the Brettschneider-Trettin-Lederer Funeral Chapel. Full military rites will follow. Friends may call at the chapel from 2pm Saturday until the time of the service. Burial will take place at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established for Cherry Meadows Hospice. The family would like to extend a special thank you to all who helped and cared for Victor during his illness. In tears I saw you sinking, and watched you fade away, But my heart was broken I wanted you to stay. But when I saw you sleeping, so peaceful and free from pain, How could I wish you back with me, to suffer once again. It broke my heart to lose you, but you did not go alone.
