Benjamin W. Bloy, Kaukauna, age 82, passed away unexpectedly Wednesday January 30, 2008, in Orange Beach, Al. He was born March 24, 1926, to the late Adolph and Hannah (Mueller) Bloy in Sherwood. Ben married Mary Hibbard on June 14, 1947, celebrating 60 years of marriage. He worked at Ouden Hoven Construction and then was a partner in Bloy Construction. Ben was a WWII veteran, serving his country from 1944 to 1946 in the U.S. Army. He was stationed in Germany, fighting in the Battle of the Bulge and the Argonne Forest. He was a 60-year member of the Wrightstown Legion. Ben enjoyed spending time at his lake home in Shawano and winters in Orange Beach, Alabama. He loved fishing, golf, bowling and cards. His great joy was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary (Hibbard) Bloy, three sons and four daughters and their spouses: Dennis (Barbara), Kaukauna; Richard (Armella), Kaukauna; Donald (Marilyn), Kaukauna; Deborah (Tim) Coffey, Shawano; Darlene (Joe) Gries, Little Chute; Mary (John) Geurts, Freedom; Jean (Chris) Lamers, Kaukauna; 18 grandchildren, two stepgrandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and four stepgreat-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sisters: Margaret Gresl, Appleton; Linda Mader, Kimberly; brothers: Leonard (Shirley) Bloy, Appleton; Adolph (Charlotte) Bloy, Kaukauna; a brother-in-law, Hank Weyenberg, Little Chute; sisters-in-law: Mabel De Grave, Green Bay; Elizabeth Bloy, Appleton. He is further survived by his wife's family Robert (Peggy) Hibbard, MN; John (Barb) Hibbard, Appleton; James (Beth) Hibbard, Gillett,; Sue (John) Waters, Round Lake Beach, IL; Verna Hibbard, Chilton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Daniel Bloy, brothers: Ralph (Gertrude) Bloy, Raymond Bloy, and Donald Bloy, sisters: Mildred (Everett) Weigert and Florence Weyenberg, brothers-in-law: Paul Gresl, Lawrence Mader, and George Hibbard Jr., father- and mother-in-law: George and Lillian Hibbard, a son-in-law, Al Winius.
Ben's Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, February 7, 2008, at St. Katherine Drexel Parish @ St. Mary Site, 119 West Seventh Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday at the Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and again on Thursday at Church from 10 a.m. until the time of service. Full Military Burial Rites will follow Ben's service. Burial will take place in the parish cemetery. The Boettcher Family Funeral Home is assisting the family. 920-766-2099.
