- Darwin J. Alberts, age 83, New London died unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 11, 2012, at his home. He was born on August 22, 1929, in Bear Creek, son of the late Claude and Mary (Roberts) Alberts. He married Phyllis Jacobs on November 30, 1957, just celebrating 55 years. Darwin served in the US Army from 1952-1954. After returning from service he returned to Simmons where he worked for 42 years. His loves were rummaging and antiquing along with enjoying time on the Little Wolf and following his grandchildren's sporting events.
Darwin is survived by his wife Phyllis, son, Greg (Theresa); their daughters, Brittany and Brianne; brother in-law and sister in-law, Joyce (Jacobs) and Robert Hoerning and sister in-law, Shirley Alberts. Nieces and nephews: Jeff (Gail), their children, Steven and Elizabeth; Connie (Mark), their children, Chas (Polly), Natalie, Melissa (Yaruez), Aydin and Emre; Sarah (Gerry), daughter McKenna; Joe (Sandy), their children: Justin, his son Joey, Cristin (Chris), Nathan and Jordan; Kim and her son Joshua; Todd (Nina), their children, Lilly and Abigail; Craig (Cindy), their children: Cody, Caitlin and Callie. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers: Gordon, Marvin and Claude; sisters, Grace Allenser, Florence Scott, and Jeanne Bellile and father in-law and mother in-law, Earl and Corabelle Jacobs.
Funeral Mass for Darwin will be held on Monday, December, 17, 2012, at 11:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, New London with Fr. Arul Joseph Irudamoney officiating. Burial will be in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 16, 2012, at the Cline & Hanson Funeral Home, New London from 3-7 p.m. and also at the church on Monday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service.
