Marilyn J. Hartzheim, 80, North Crest Assisted Living, died there Sept. 11, 2009, with family by her side. Marilyn was born Oct. 15, 1928, in Milwaukee, to the late Stewart and Margaret (Quest) Farley. She grew up in Milwaukee and graduated from Wauwatosa High School in 1946. Marilyn attended Lawrence University in Appleton, and then graduated in 1950 from UW-Madison with a Baccalaureate Degree. She worked for a time at A.O. Smith International in Milwaukee as a translator and secretary.
Marilyn married Wayne A. Hartzheim on June 28, 1952, in Wauwatosa, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church. Marilyn was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, volunteered with Hospice, Meals on Wheels and Bootstrap. She enjoyed gardening and raising flowers. She also did volunteer work as a reading teacher for local elementary schools.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne, Stevens Point; children, Susan Hartzheim, Stevens Point; Jane (Tony) Gentile, Milwaukee; Dr. Thomas (Melanie), Manlius, N.Y.; and Bill (Cynthia), Sheboygan Falls, Wis. She is further survived by grandchildren, Christopher, Mary, Matthew and Anna.
Marilyn is preceded in death by a sister and a brother.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2009, at St. Stephen Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Raja officiating. Burial will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until time of service on Tuesday. Boston Funeral Home assisted with arrangements.
