- Lillian Helen (Vandeyacht) Lauer, formerly of Clintonville, Wis., died on April 27, 2011, in Los Gatos, Calif. Lillian was born on June 13, 1924, and grew up in Hollandtown and Dundas, Wis. She was the only daughter among four children of Benedict Vandeyacht and Henrietta Nickles.
She earned a degree in Nutrition from the College of St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minn., and was a consulting dietician at various hospitals and nursing homes. She married Ralph M. Lauer on Sept. 16, 1946, and moved to Clintonville, where she raised four children.
Lillian excelled at life. She was a skilled cook, gardener, canner, seamstress, and she could run a law office and start a business. She was an avid golfer and a skilled duplicate bridge player. After the death of her husband, she continued a productive life in California near her children with a wide circle of friends. Lillian faced many challenges in her life and yet always gave her children and friends her full love and support. They will cherish their memories of Lillian, her honesty, strength, and beauty, her homemaking, and her love of life.
She is survived by two daughters, Sue Ann Lauer, Bolivia; Jane Barker, New York City; two sons, Michael Lauer, Los Gatos, Calif.; and Charles, San Jose, Calif.; and two grandsons, Ryan Barker and Shane Lauer.
