- Alexander George Grignon, 86, veteran employe of the federal government, died Sunady morning at the home of his son James, 670 Catherine St. Mr. Grignon had been employed as a mail carrier and lock tender by the government for 41 years and the last 12 years had been working for the Green Bay-Mississippi Canal Co, During the Civil War Mr. Grignon carried mail from Shawano to Ontonagon, Mich., using horses when he could and walking when the trails were bad. For many years he was a lock tender at Combined Locks. He was born in Green Bay in 1834.
The decedent is survived by four sons, Louis, Kimberly, Robert, Munising, Mich; Thomas, Newport, Va., James, Appleton; five daughters, Mrs. M. Maher, Kaukauna; Mrs. Dekka McKinsey, Portland, Ore; Mrs. Theresa Earley, Wausau, Mrs. E. G. O'Berley, Munising, Mich; Mrs. E. Murphy, Milwaukee.
Runeral services will be held at 9 o'clock Tuesday morning from Holy Cross Catholic church at Kaukauna with the Rev. P. J. Lochman in charge.
