Georg was born December 8, 1830 in Bavaria to Paul and Regina (Graf) Appelbacher. He farmed in the Township of Charlestown plus the owner of the Hayton Mill. He married Rosana Hertel in Bavaria with whom he had eight children; Rosana died March 21, 1869 and Georg remarried to widow, Francesca (Guenther) Mueller with whom he had one child. Georg was drafted as a private in the Union Army on March 9, 1865 in Fond du Lac, WI and was discharged September 4, 1865 at Mobile, AL. Georg spent his last years at the home of his daughter, Elizabeth, in Milwaukee. He died on September 1, 1915 in Milwaukee Soldier's Home, Milwaukee. He is buried in Union Cemetery, North Teutonia Ave. Milwaukee.
