- Marcella "Sally" Wegner, 95, Appleton, died Friday, March 4, 2011, at Fountain View Care Center in Ripon. Sally was born in Appleton, on April 4, 1915, to the late Anton and Lena (Schmeider) Choudoir. She lived in Appleton most of her life until moving to Ripon to be near her daughter.
On Sept. 6, 1937, she was united in marriage to Melvin "Bud" Wegner at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton. Bud preceded her in death in February of 1969. Sally operated concession stands at Goodland Field in Appleton for 35 years. In her later years, she worked at Peerless Cleaners.
Sally loved to sing and play piano and sang in the Thompson Community Center Choir. She also enjoyed her casino trips and was an avid bowler. She was a lifelong member at St. Mary Catholic Church, Appleton.
She is survived by her daughter, Kay (Harry) Olm, Ripon; son, Jerry (Marjorie) Wegner, Elm Grove; ten grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren; her brother, Roland Choudoir, Appleton; two sisters-in-law and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and four brothers, Tony, Gordy, Warren and Harold.
A Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 10, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 312 S. State St., Appleton, with Father David Funk, OFM Cap officiating. Friends may visit at the church on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will take place at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.
