  Thiessen, Henrietta "Hattie" Henrietta Thiessen, "Hattie," age 88, passed away Monday, August 14, 2006, at her home in Appleton. She was born in Darboy, June 1, 1918, daughter of the late George J. and Kate (Renn) Schwalbach. On November 15, 1947, she married Howard Thiessen at Holy Angels Catholic Church, Darboy, sharing 58 years together before his death November 4, 2005. She attended grade school at Holy Angels and graduated from Appleton High School, class of '36. She attended Outagamie rural Normal School in Kaukauna for 2 years and received her B.A. from the University of WI Oshkosh. She taught school for 43 years in Calumet County rural schools, Brillion Public and Parochial schools, Chilton, Reedsville and Appleton. She was a member of the Brillion vocational school board and the Public Library board before moving to Appleton. She became an active member of St. Elizabeth Auxiliary before retiring. Hattie loved to do handicraft, especially rosemaling. Hattie is survived by a daughter Judi of Appleton, two sisters: Irma Wittmann of Appleton and Sue Miller of Darboy; two brothers: Joe (Lila) Schwalbach of Darboy, and Paul (Vira) Schwalbach of Darboy; dear friends Nan Krizenesky, Sheila Coffey and Mitsue Sparks. She was preceded in death by four sisters: Lucille Grassl, Alice Dietzen, Stella Klein, Kathryn Klein and a brother George R. Schwalbach. A memorial mass will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday August 16, 2006, at St. Bernard Catholic Church with the Rev. Dennis Ryan officiating. Friends will be received at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. A memorial will be established in her name.
