- In Memoriam
Written in memory of Mrs. Elizabeth P. Vanderheiden, who departed this life August 5th, 1903, aged twenty-three years four months and seven days.
Now I must leave you,
My children dear;
Let not the world grieve you,
Trust in God and never fear.
Oh father and husband so kind,
As I take your hands in mine;
I will journey forth, my mother to find.
In Heaven our spirits shall shine.
Oh brothers and sisters too
When I kneel before the Heavenly King,
I will patiently wait for you
In the palace where angels sing.
Now good-bye to you all
For plainly I hear the bell,
I see your tear drops fall,
The angel of death has sounded the knell.
And as we gathered 'round her bier
And thought of happy days gone by,
When her pleasant smile did greet us here
And her cheerful voice is always nigh.
Little thought we then, that today
Her spirit must take its flight,
That our heavenly father would call her away
And seat her by his throne of light.
But we must console ourselves for we know
On the opposite shore she is waiting for us;
The boatman pale silently does row,
And is waiting to take us across.
We know that she is happy in her heavenly home,
That sorrow and death may not enter therein;
While we silently and sorrowfully roam
And wait for our joys to begin.

Mrs. Peter Vanderheiden of Center township, died on Wednesday morning, August 5, 1903, at the age of about 23 years after several months of patient suffering from a complication of diseases. The funeral was held at St. Francis' church in Center township, Friday, August 7th at ten o'clock a.m., the services being conducted by Rev. Father Barden, pastor. Remains of deceased were interred in the cemetery adjoining the church. Deceased leaves a husband and two small children, one being about four months and the other three years of age, to mourn the loss of a kind and affectionate wife and mother. Mr. Vanderheiden and children have the sympathy of all in their bereavement. Mrs. Vanderheiden was a daughter of Joseph Kosch who resides in the valley east of Bellwood.
