  Schmidt, Gerald J., W2761 Schmi dt Rd.BrillionAge 68, died peacefully Sunday March 2, 2003 at his home following a coura geous battle with cancer. He was born April 19, 1934 in Forest Junction; s on of the late Bernard and Mary (Rossmeier) Schmidt. Gerald served his cou ntry, being honorably discharged from the Army. He was a lifelong dairy fa rmer and had also worked at Valley Packaging. Gerald loved collecting trai ns and model tractors, telling a good joke and being funny. He always enjo yed time spent with his grandchildren. He was a member of St. Francis Cath olic Church, Hollandtown.Survivors include his wife, Evelyn M. (Swanningson); six sons and four dau ghters-in-law: Bernard and Janice, Fred and Kari, David and Holly, Keit h, Karl, Henry and Sabrina; two daughters and sons-in-law: Lorie and Guy W anta, Sara and Martin Juneau; 15 grandchildren: Daniel, Katie, Erin, Arian na, Brayden, Ashleigh, Jordan, Elizabeth, Jamie, Jacklyn, Travis, Cole, Be njamin, Alex and Emily; a brother and sister-in-law, Ralph and Grace; step brothers and stepsisters-in-law: Art and Marion, Len and Lori; a sister a nd brother-in-law, Ann Marie and Fran Kempen; stepsisters and stepbrothers -in-law: Lorraine and Don Brink, Rosemary Brantmeier and Lucy Johnson; num erous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Berna rd and Mary Schmidt; stepfather, Henry Schmidt; a brother, Joseph Schmid t; and a stepbrother, Clarence Schmidt.Funeral services will be held at 11am Thursday at St. Francis Catholic Chu rch, Hollandtown with Fr. Jim Lucas officiating. Burial in the parish ceme tery. The VFW Post 3319 will conduct military rites immediately followi ng services at the church. Friends may call from 4pm to 7pm Wednesday at t he Boettcher Family Funeral Home, 2401 Fieldcrest Dr., Kaukauna and aft er 10am Thursday directly at the church until the time of services. In li eu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in his name.We will a ll miss him very much.The family would like to thank Hospice, Dr. Klingbeil, Dr. Swanson and a ll the staff at Appleton Medical Center and the Martha Seikman Cancer Cent er.
